La Fémis, Raoul Peck, the school’s Chairman, Nathalie Coste Cerdan, the school’s Executive Director, the school’s department heads as well as its professional film teachers, the school‘s staff, its current students and its graduates, wish to pay tribute to Marc Nicolas who ran the school from 2002 until 2016. Everyone will remember a passionate and demanding cinema-lover who made La Fémis one of the world’s top cinema schools by constantly pushing the boundaries, introducing new methods of teaching, new genres, new sources of inspiration and by establishing new international partnerships. Marc Nicolas constantly nurtured the school’s social diversity through its partnership with the « Culture et Diversité Foundation ». In his constant quest to take La Fémis forward he played a major role in helping the school integrate the prestigious group of Parisian Science and Arts universities (Paris Sciences et Lettres) along with four other major art schools. A man of integrity and a great servant of the state, he worked relentlessly to transmit these values to an ever wider body of students while preserving the school’s independance. We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
